  • The Skin Pik design is local to Goroka and symbolises when when women came together to eat, those with higher status were treated to finer parts of the pig, the women of lower status were left to wait. The design speaks of independence and empowerment.
  • This Bilum is handwoven from acrylic and wool yarn as well as upcycled knitwear using traditional weaving techniques.

  • Medium size body and long strap length.

    This Bilum was lovingly woven by artisan weaver Rosa Hofman, 47, lives with her husband and four children in Fanuifa, a small village in Goroka. She has an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humour, she is very much a luminous spirit within her community. Rosa’s favourite pattern is the Skin Pig, a vibrant optical design.
