The story behind the Diamond design is rich in culture and is held dear to the women of Papua New Guinea, not only is it a symbol of abundance and prosperity, traditionally in Goroka it is given to a newly wed as a sign of wealth and prosperity for their new married life.
This Bilum is handwoven from acrylic and wool yarn as well as upcycled knitwear using traditional weaving techniques.
Small size body and long strap length.

Weaver Details Weaver Details

Artisan weaver Elsa Kavin, 32, lives with her family in the Bena Bena valley near Fanuifa in Goroka. She is the sole income earner in her extended family and takes care of six people, including supporting her younger sister's children’s school fees. Elsa has been weaving since she was young, a craft learned from her mother, and today she has made the vibrant snake pattern her signature.
