  • The story behind the Diamond design is rich in culture and is held dear to the women of Papua New Guinea, not only is it a symbol of abundance and prosperity, traditionally in Goroka it is given to a newly wed as a sign of wealth and prosperity for their new married life.
  • This Bilum is handwoven from acrylic and wool yarn as well as upcycled knitwear using traditional weaving techniques.
  • Medium size body and short long length.

    This Bilum was lovingly woven by artisan weaver Barbara Pagasa. Barbara lives with her husband, Michael, in Mount Hagen in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. She is a wonderful ambassador and aggregator of Bilum for Among Equals and also a much-loved group leader and dedicated program coordinator at House Of Hope, a refuge she established for women requiring healthcare. Barbara takes these women in with tremendous compassion, warmth and kindness.
