Highlands Bilum

Bilum is an ancient weaving practice originating in Papua New Guinea, handed down through the generations.

The patterns are inspired by the environment and life experience, each pattern weaves a story of the life of the artisan. This pattern was inspired by an arrow.

Each bilum is one of kind and built to last, made from acrylic and wool fibre, both new and up-cycled and it is soft to touch and machine washable.

It has been embellished with a hand-made pom and tassel set in warm red, made from all-Australian wool.

From the sale of this bag the weaver is able to provide support to her family and access much needed resources such as health care and education.

Dimensions 39cm wide x 36cm high x 77cm strap.
