Highlands Bilum

Bilum is an ancient weaving practice originating in Papua New Guinea, handed down through the generations.

The patterns are inspired by the surrounding environment, lineage and life of the artisan.

Each bilum is one of kind and built to last. This bilum is from Goroka in the Eastern Highlands and is handmade from natural fibres and dyes.

It has been embellished with a handmade raffia pom and tassel in cream made in Madagascar.

From the sale of this bag the weaver is able to provide support to her family and access much needed resources such as health care and education for her and her family.

Dimensions 30cm wide x 31cm high x 78cm strap.

Please note: due to the natural fibres used, exposure to water and harsh sunlight may cause damage.
